Welcome Baby Rafael

Rafael is the son of my cousin Geraldo and his wife Karen.
Rafa is the cutest little boy and today he is turing 1 month old, congratulations Rafael!!!!
He has such a pretty face, so perfect , look how cute these photos are, he is smiling with such a young age, what a happy baby.... Can't wait to meet him

Every baby is different and have their own time to do things, but in general, most babies suffer from colic from a very early age. It breaks my heart when I see Luana struggling to make number 2.

3 tips to relief colic:

1- Always massage the baby belly after bath with an oil in clockwise direction. Bending the babies legs also helps to improve bowel movement.

2- Fennel and Aniseed tea for the mum. This is my number one tea recipe for colic relief. It only works if you are breast feeding of course! The mum drinks the tea therefore the baby receive it from the milk and helps to reduce the pain.

3- "Funchicorea"- This is a magic powder that we have in Brazil, is composed of Fennel and Chicory, comes in a powder form. All you have to do is dip the dummy into the powder and give it to the baby. It has a sweet taste which helps the baby to grab to the dummy and also calms the baby down.

There are many contradictions regarding to the relation of what the mother eats and the breast milk. I used to agree with the theory that everything we eat will come out in the milk. After all my readings I am starting to think that it is not 100% true. My pediatrician also disagrees with this theory, which makes me happy and not feeling guilty every time I have a glass of wine!

Some books says to avoid spicy foods and grains, others says it will have no effect on the baby. According to some books, countries like India where curry is in every food, it is impossible to avoid spice and not every baby suffer from colic.

I guess the best way to prove or disprove this theory is to pay attention in what you eat. If the baby get upset more than once over the same food, keep in mind that this type of food should be avoided during breast feeding. The same works for the types of food that you have eaten and has made your baby calm and relaxed!

Mummy Karen is the owner of a very famous blog in Brazil,  CASAMENTEIRAS, it is worth to check it out, specially for the mums to be, there are lots of great tips for babies, baby showers and others.
